Michael Carr (Mike Carr as he is fondly known) is an internationally experienced business manager with more than 30 years corporate experience garnered from working in United Kingdom and Malaysia. His experience in the Asian Region commenced in 1998 when he assumed the position of Regional Director of a blue-chip, UK public-listed multinational being responsible for driving and implementing the strategic direction of a number of companies in a variety of Asian markets. These markets included Australia, U.A.E., Indonesia, Singapore, India and Malaysia.

He has seen the ups and downs of economies and their impact on corporate strategies – giving him the knowledge and skills in dealing with an ever changing world. These experiences continue to reinforce his belief in the importance of having strong leaders within the organisation. As he aptly puts it, when things are not going right in my or any organisation, the first echelon of people that I will focus on are the leaders as they are the ones who have the accountability to make things happen.

In Malaysia, Mike was responsible for building a business across the country from lowly beginnings to one with a turnover of US$100 million over 5 years during one of the most difficult economic periods i.e. Asian crisis. His working experience in Asia has enabled him to understand the working and leadership cultures within the Asian Region. He uses this knowledge to develop the appropriate interventions and share with his participants to help them to achieve their leadership potential.

Mike read for a degree in Applied Science and a Diploma in Management Studies from universities in the UK. He has been a Chartered Engineer for many years and is a Member of the UK Chartered Management Institute. Prior to coming to Malaysia in 1998, Mike held senior management positions in the MNC in England requiring him to apply his leadership competencies to achieve challenging goals.

Since 2014, Mike has shifted from his second home, Malaysia back to UK and makes regular trips to Asia for his training and consulting assignments. He focuses on areas where his contributions have been most significant to the corporate environment; leadership and strategy. Mike keeps abreast in business having recently been a Director of a company in India, networking with business leaders in UK and carrying out consultancy work in Asia for a UK public-listed Equity fund, being directly involved in developing and ensuring the execution of strategies through honing the right leadership competencies of the senior management.

Participants who have attended his leadership and strategy training sessions have mentioned that the real difference is that his sharing is based purely on experience which enables them to relate to their own real-life situations. This is the true value and benefit they acquire from his sessions.
